The Role Of Social Entrepreneurship In Crowdfunding
Many of the programs that were in place to assist under-represented neighborhoods and the people living there, no longer exists. The working majority are finding it difficult to maintain a lifestyle that allows them to withstand a financial collapse or retire comfortably; this puts millions of people at a disadvantage to achieve social mobility or access to a high quality of life.
Today more than ever entrepreneurs are finding innovative ways to make a positive impact in the world around them. These individuals are classified as social entrepreneurs, they use entrepreneurship as a means to make social changes. These brand of entrepreneurs operate businesses that are for profit and function just like any other business, with one exception, they use portions of their revenue and resources to impact social change. More and more social entrepreneurs are stepping up and replacing big business and big government as a primary resource to impact social causes.
Crowdfunding has become a timely tool for entrepreneurs looking for startup funds, however, most find it difficult to navigate their way to a successful campaign. Kickstarter statistics show that campaigns with social causes rank second amongst successful campaigns, trailing only campaigns that are centered around technology. So the goal then becomes how do I connect my campaign with a social cause. If you are running a campaign regardless of the category you must find innovative ways to connect your campaign or your rewards to a social issue that affect a large segment of society such as; homelessness, domestic issues, poverty, climate change, access to nutritional foods and assistance to the elderly. Without showing the public that your campaign can have a positive impact on a large segment of society it becomes highly unlikely your campaign will be successful.
