Regrets are what keep me up at night, haunts my dreams and kicks me in my ass; Not the many failures I have made in my life. Typically regrets are decisions you could have made that may have changed the course of your life. They are the product of choosing to do nothing when you had the opportunity to make a change in your life. It could be starting a business, speaking to an audience, getting into your best physical condition, telling someone in your life how you feel, learning to drive, skydiving or even continuing your education. When you choose to not do something in your life that can be enriching, you create a void in your life cycle that for some can never be filled. Regrets not only affect you it affects others around you and in many cases can lead to depression and self-destructive behavior. There is nothing to be learned from regrets other than not repeating the cycle.
Failures on the other hand, are a little different; Will failures keep you up at night and haunt your dreams, of course they will. Failures typically involve you making an attempt to perform a task that will enrich your life or someone's else life. There is a small amount of success in every failure. For one, you faced your fear, you performed a task that was out of your comfort zone and you survived. This gives you the courage and insight to try the task again and apply what you learned from the first attempt. Knowledge is priceless, so having learned from a failure is just as valuable as succeeding. Failure helps to make you a better winner and a far better teacher. What can someone who has never tried teach you about trying? If you have a dream to become a business owner, get fit, become a pilot or even a counselor I encourage you to take that leap of faith; No I beg you to.
